He was physically and mentally disabled, with no contact with the world of established art, and expressed himself in a language of uncommon beauty, spirituality, and meaning. He established a bridge to the world at large with his art, first with drawings, then with gouache and finally later in life, with painting. He lived in the countryside in the state of São Paulo where he died in 2003, shortly before his eightieth birthday.
